Though there are many ways to speed up a computer, we can not let go of the tips below in order to keep peak PC performance and fix a slow computer.
1. Reduce system pressure to speed it up.
As a human being, if we have to take many heavy stuffs at one time, we will be exhausted and can not move longer. This happens the same to computers. So to improve computer performance and fix a slow running PC, what we should do first is to reduce its pressure - uninstall/remove what we do no want, which includes:
1) Uninstall the unused programs from Add/ Remove Programs.
2) Delete the useless files/folders/ system files with the Disk Cleanup utility.
3) Simplify the startup items by going to "Start" -> Run-> msconfig -> System Configuration Utility -> Startup tab-> disable the programs that do not need to load at Windows startup.
2. Defragment the hard drive to speed up file access.
We know that normally when store a file on the computer, it will be cut into different parts and placed at different corners of the hard drive. Though it is still possible for us to read and write these discontinuous parts, it will consume more time for the system to read through the whole disk to reassemble them together. So to improve slow computer performance, a disk defragment is needed in order to increase file-accessing speed. Just follow the steps below, then you can get easily make computer faster: go "Start" ->All Programs ->Accessories ->System Tools ->Disk Defragmenter. (Note: You should defragment the computer when the fragmented rate is 10% or after each large installation/ removal.)
3. Regularly scan viruses to maintain stable computer performance.
To fix a slow running computer, you have to make sure that the computer is well protected by viruses. Viruses are widely known for wasting system resources, stealing privacy and slowing down computer speed. So to maintain computer performance and stability, do remember to install and scan an anti-virus program regularly. Besides, it is recommended to turn on its real-time safeguard feature to protect the computer at any time.
4. Fix registry errors to ensure a faster computer.
Registry errors are another cause for slow computer performance. We know that registry is the most important component to maintain stable PC performance. No matter what program we run on the computer, it will call for corresponding registry information. As we install/uninstall programs, relating registry will be added or removed from the Windows registry. With the frequent usage of registry, errors will come inevitably. Once there are corrupted or useless registry entries existing, a sluggish computer, or system blue screen of dearth, crashes will come on the neck of another. So to always enjoy a faster computer, do remember to run some powerful registry cleaners like Registry Easy to weekly fix the registry errors which unfortunately cannot be done manually.
