For all PC users, it will be frustrating to work with a XP computer which has poor performance. If you want to begin your work quickly when booting up the computer, here are some suggestions on how to improve your Windows XP performance. Take a look at this and you will get better user experience soon.
Improving Windows XP performance is not a really hard job even though you know only a little on computers. Just follow the steps here, then you can manage it quickly.
1. Remove what you do not want any more. Normally, it includes:
1) Uninstall the unwanted programs /PC games from Start -> Control Panel-> Add/ Remove Programs;
2) Remove any unused files/documents and use "Disk Cleanup" utility within System Tools to remove temporary Internet files, downloaded program files, Windows temporary files like error reports, empty the Recycle Bin and so no. These will free up more available hard disk space and memory, which helps to improve Windows XP performance.
2. Regularly run a check on the hard drive. We know that hard drive bad tracks come inevitably over times. They will greatly shorten the lifespan of hard drive (even the entire computer) and affect computer performance. So it is necessary regularly repair the disk errors. You can do this by going to "Start" ->Run -> type "chkdsk /f". This command requires a restart to proceed. Once it restarts it will check and fix any windows automatically.
3. Once you have done the two tips above, do remember to run a disk defragmentation. Though it seems rather easy, it plays very important roles on improving Windows performance. A defragment process will rearrange the files on the hard drive, making all parts of a same content always stay at the same place of the hard drive. Hence, it will be much easier for the Windows XP computer reached what it wants and then improve its performance.
3. Last but not the least, you should run a registry scan in order to improve Windows XP performance. This helps to detect and fix any registry errors quickly. Normally, registry error will cause poor windows XP performance and make your XP computer behave strangely /report strange errors/ stop working. Once they have been fixed, you will see a great improvement on your Windows XP computer - run smoothly and faster.
